Our Test Preparation Process
The Steps Necessary for Success.
Assess
The test prep process starts with a benchmark practice assessment(s). This practice assessment is a realistic, retired released test (SAT/ACT) or a test that closely aligns with whichever test your student wants to prepare for.
Score & Analyze
This assessment is hand-scored by a member of our team, usually the same day. During this time, we'll analyze the students' performance, identifying question types and concepts that will be reviewed once sessions begin.
Review & Plan
Our staff member will sit with each student and family to review the results, answer questions and make a customized plan. The plan will include the frequency and focus of the sessions and what the goal score should be.
Measure Progress
Throughout the test preparation process- every 2-3 weeks- students are encouraged to sit for the full length test as a way of measuring progress and reevaluating, if necessary, the students plan of action.
OUR SESSIONS
The Structure of Our Sessions Explained
First Hour
Let's get down to work! During the first hour, the student and tutor will cover incorrect questions from the benchmark practice test. The tutor will identify concepts to review, teach strategy and incorporate testing and time management techniques.
Second Hour
Time to measure progress! Now that the student has spent the first hour learning, discussing strategy and gaining more confidence, it's now time to put that knowledge to use. Students will test in the area they just reviewed. Once completed, the test is scored and the student is given feedback on their results. This test will be reviewed during the next session.
At Home
Our college planning team will create an action plan based on the services that are agreed upon in the initial meeting. All this will be communicated to the parent and student, including setting goals and deadlines to have objectives achieved.
